Dear BBCS Family,

We are on the final stretch! This week starts the 4th quarter of the school year. This has been a great year of growth for me and I appreciate working with you all. Your feedback has helped me personally and professionally. I have several updates and important information to share with you. Please read carefully as there have been some changes to our school calendar for this year.

Schedule Changes:

  • Spring Concert Schedule Change
The calendar that was printed at the beginning of the year had a different date and it will NOT be this Friday. I apologize for any confusion this has caused. The Spring Concert has been moved to next Friday, April 8, at 7 PM. Students in 1st-12th grade will be performing musical pieces that have been prepared for Fine Arts. 1st-3rd grade students are too young to compete in Fine Arts but WILL be performing with the elementary choir for the Spring Concert. The dress code for the Spring Concert will be attached to this email.
  • Chocolate Sale Prize Change
Wild West Town does not appear to be opening up in time for us to use that as a prize for Preschool and Elementary students who reach that sales goal. The prize for Preschool and Elementary students who sell $350 worth of chocolate will earn a trip to Flow Sports, which is a trampoline park here in town. This trip will be Friday, May 13.
  • 8th Grade Promotion
We had planned to honor the 8th graders’ promotion into High School at the High School Graduation this year. However, I have been convinced that it would be better to honor the 8th-grade graduates with their own night as we have done before. We will have an 8th-grade promotion dinner on Friday, May 20, 2022, from 6:30-8:00 PM. More details will follow in the coming days.

Chocolate Sale

This is the last week to participate in the Spring Fundraiser! All money and orders must be turned in by this Friday, April 1. This includes the money for the cases of chocolate as well. We made a change this year in that cases of chocolate were not delivered before the sale but will be delivered based on how many cases are pre-ordered. This means that if you want to sell cases of chocolate, they need to be paid for by this Friday. We will place orders for cases with all of the other orders and you will be able to sell the cases later and keep the $60 after you sell each case.

Iowa Assessments

Students will participate in the Iowa Test of Basic Skills next week in school. This is a standardized test which will be compared to other students across the nation. Please help your children do their best by getting them to school on time and well-rested. A good healthy diet without excessive sugar also helps students focus and think clearly. Results from these tests will be shared with families after we receive them. This will likely be in May or June of this year.

Fine Arts Update

  • Junior High Fine Arts will be at Marquette Manor in Downers Grove on Thursday and Friday, April 21-22. I am still waiting for the schedule as to who performs when. Students will only miss school for the days they perform.
  • Elementary Fine Arts will be at North Love on Friday, April 29.

Parents are welcome to attend these competitions and the awards ceremonies at the end of each competition. More information will be given as we get closer to the events and I receive a schedule for who will be performing at what time.

Damaged Book Fee

This is just a reminder that teachers will be conducting a book check this month. Books that received excessive damage will be issued a fine based on the extent of the damage.

Easter Break

There will be no school on Friday, April 15, and Monday, April 18, for Easter.

Preschool Bike-A-Thon

Preschool students will be holding a Bike-A-Thon on Friday, April 29. This event will be a fun day with students, teachers, and family. More information has been shared with families already.

8th Grade Walk-A-Thon

The 8th-grade class will be raising money to help lower the costs of the 8th-grade promotion. They will be holding a Walk-A-Thon fundraiser on Thursday, April 28. More details will be shared with families in the days to follow.

As always, I value feedback from parents and students. It is a privilege to work with you and your family. We want to help you in any way that we can. Thank you for being a part of the Berean Family.
