Dear BBCS Family,

Picture Retake Day

Wednesday, November 4, is picture retake day. Students who were absent from school on picture day and those whose parents have requested a retake will have their picture taken and may follow the Picture Day Dress Code listed below. Students not taking a picture retake should come to school in their usual uniform.

Dress Code Guidelines for K5 to 12th Grade:

Students do not have to wear their uniforms if they are having their picture taken. However, students must follow the dress code listed below. Dress for pictures is anything that falls in the guidelines for student dress.

Girls:  K5-High School

  1. Girls must wear Dresses and Skirts to the middle of the knee or below (No Denim).
  2. Denim jackets are allowed as long as they are not ripped or torn.
  3. Shirts must have sleeves and cannot be sheer (No t-shirts or shirts with writing).
  4. Necklines should not be low-cut (No lower than three fingers from the base of the throat).
  5. Make-Up and Jewelry should be age-appropriate and in moderation. (No more than two earrings in each ear.)
  6. Elementary girls should not wear any makeup.

Boys:  K5-High School

  1. Boys’ shirts must have a collar (No t-shirts or shirts with writing).
  2. Pants (No Jeans).

Students may stay in their uniform or picture clothes all day, but may change if parents desire.

Cookie Dough

Thank you again for being a part of our Fall Fundraiser! Cookie Dough is set to arrive this week. Cookie Dough that was ordered should be ready on Thursday afternoon to be taken home by students who sold. The original order forms will be given to students with the tubs of cookie dough.

Tardy Policy

Over the first quarter of school, we have been gracious with students that were tardy to school. We will be following our policy more closely this second quarter. These policies can be found on page 48 of our Parent/Student Handbook

Tardy Policy:

1st – 12th Grade Students are expected to be in their classroom seat and ready for the school day by the time the bell rings at 8:00 a.m. Students coming into the building after the 8:00 a.m. bell must check into the school office.

Excused tardies will include doctor/dental visits, illness and traffic situations that result in a large number of students being late. We will allow each student to receive two (2) excused tardies to school each quarter without question or penalty.  All other tardies will be considered unexcused. Three unexcused tardies count as one absence for the purpose of perfect attendance awards. In the event of excessive tardies, an administrator will notify the parents.

For every three unexcused tardies in a quarter, students will receive a detention. Elementary detentions are served during recess.  Middle School and High School detentions are served Mondays and Thursdays at 3:30. Each detention costs $3 and is 20 minutes long.

Extended Care Policy

Morning Extended Care opens at 6:30 a.m. and continues to 7:30 a.m. All students in any grade who are dropped off during this time are considered a part of extended care and are charged accordingly. After-School Extended Care starts at 3:30 p.m. and continues to 5:30 p.m. as needed. The fee for Extended Day is $5 per day with a maximum of $55 per month per child.

Report Cards

Report Cards for the 1st quarter will go home this Friday, November 6, 2020.

Veteran’s Day

BBCS will not have school on Wednesday, November 11, for Veteran’s Day. Preschool Daycare will be available from 7 a.m. and parents should sign up with their teacher if interested.

Spirit Week

Spirit Week will be November 16-20. Even though we will not be able to cap the week off with a basketball tournament, we are excited to be able to have Spirit Week as close to normal as possible. The details for the days have been sent home and can be found here: Spirit Week 2020. Students can earn points for their teams through dressing up, winning the games, and winning the decoration contest for their age group. There will be points given each day for students who dress up for the day as well as the special games. At the end of the week, decorations will be graded and points will be given out to the winners.
