Dear BBCS Family,

Thank you for helping us with a great response to our change of policies this week. We are doing all we can to be mindful of what effect each change will have on all of our students, families, and staff. We have had many conversations with authorities, parents, staff, and students, and we are making each decision with daily prayer. Our school was founded to be a help to parents and this has not changed. Our goal is to help Christian families in the greater Rockford area to raise godly young men and women. Thank you for working with us graciously and doing such a great job in supporting our school.

Changes to Drop off Procedure

I would like to take this time to address a change that we will be making regarding student drop-offs for the morning. These changes will go into effect starting Monday, October 5, 2020. We have been in school for one month and would like to make an adjustment based on what we have observed.

  • All Morning Extended Care will continue to use Door D exclusively from 6:30 – 7:30 AM
  • Preschool will continue to use Door D from 7:30 – 8:10 AM
  • Starting at 7:30 Elementary, Junior High, and High School students will use Door F from 7:30 – 8:00 AM (Elementary has been using Door C but will change to Door F)
  • Pick up procedures will continue as they have been, and will not change.
  • Whether dropping off or picking up, we are asking all parents to park their vehicles in a parking spot while waiting for their child(ren). This is both to prevent accidents in the parking lot as well as to ensure your child(ren) enter the building.

Door C is the entrance upstairs with an awning

Door D is the entrance downstairs with an awning

Door F is the entrance downstairs by the gym without an awning

Wellness Checks Will Continue

From the start of school we have asked parents to check their child(ren)’s temperature at home each morning before leaving home. This will continue. Parents have done a great job of communicating with us as to symptoms that their child(ren) may be experiencing, and we thank you for working with us on being careful. We understand that you as a parent know your child(ren), and we are relying on you and your judgment as to whether or not they should be in school for the day. We do have policies in place and will continue wellness checks at the door.

Prior to coming to school each day, students and staff should assess themselves (with parental/guardian assistance, if applicable) for any of the following signs or symptoms of possible COVID-19:

  • A fever of 100.4℉ or greater
  • Unexplained sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Unexplained headache
  • Diarrhea
  • Close contact with anyone having COVID-19
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Chills or repeated shaking with chills
  • Unexplained, new, or worsening cough
  • Unexplained muscle pain/aches

Thank you all for an awesome first month of school. It is a great honour to work with such amazing families and I am looking forward to all that God brings us for the rest of this school year. If you have any concerns or questions, I am here to help. Our school theme comes from Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are More Than Conquerors through him that loved us.” Our strength comes from God, and through His love, there is nothing that we cannot handle.
