From the Desk of Mrs. Williams – September 2019

Dear Parents,

We are now several weeks into the school year and I have so much for which to be thankful in this first month of school.

One-Door Policy

I’m thankful for our school families love and support through changes.  You have been so amazing in every area, especially in our transition to the “one-door” policy.  The drop-off and pick-up times have been so smooth, and I praise the Lord for His safety as we drop-off and pick-up each day those most precious to us. After monitoring the flow of traffic for the first few weeks, we are able to let our secondary students (6th-12th) leave once a parent has arrived on the school premises.  We are still asking the secondary students to wait in the gym until they have either been picked up by a parent or notified that their ride is here. The goal is to keep the door and hallway clear and safe for entry and exit. Yes, a secondary student may pick up his or her siblings from their department pick-up locations, if that would be a help.  Remember that the pick-up lane is still for picking up only; cars may not park and wait in the pick-up lane. Thanks for being so great about moving through this transition with us.

Picture Day

I’m thankful for the many opportunities that our kids have to shine.  One fun day for them to shine is on picture day. FALL PICTURE DAY is just around the corner, September 25th, and it will be easier than ever for you to prepare for this day.  Students will wear their uniforms for the fall pictures this year, but will be able to dress up in non-uniform attire for Spring Pictures.  Both picture opportunities will still allow you to purchase pictures. A package of proofs will come home in the fall and spring that do NOT need to be returned.  If you do not want to order pictures, you may just toss the proofs.

Spirit Wear Days

I am most thankful for the incredible spirit of our students!    SPIRIT WEAR DAYS are fun and encouraging to our students and staff, showing our school spirit.  On these days, one may wear a Berean Spirit shirt or hoodie, which are available for purchase anytime on our school spirit wear website: https://sideline.bsnsports.com/schools/illinois/rockford/berean-baptist-christian-school

This link may be accessed from the homepage of Berean Baptist Christian School.  I have included the current sale info for BSN:  15% OFF $75 or more Code: SEPT19 Deal Ends: 9/30    When are Spirit Wear Days?  Every Friday, and every time we have a “home game!” Game schedules are always available on the Athletics Calendar at bereanschool.com/calendar/, and are updated regularly.   Reminders may be made in class on these days, but as parents, you can know that these days are scheduled, and reminders will not come home regarding these days.   Occasionally throughout the year the kids will go on activities which will allow them to wear denim, or a group of students may be allowed to raise money by having a Denim Day.  These specific days will be announced throughout the year.

Let me again reiterate how grateful I am for each and every one of you. Please let me know if there is anything that you need:  my door is always open to you!
